Dr. Elizabeth “Betsy” Richardson is associate professor of Psychology at the University of Montevallo, joining the faculty in 2018. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from Birmingham-Southern College, an M.S. and Ph.D. in Medical/Clinical Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), and an MSPH in Clinical Research and Biostatistics, also from UAB. She completed a clinical internship at the University of Florida.
Dr. Richardson teaches Foundations, Forensic Psychology, Psychology of Pain, Psychopathology, and Biological Psychology. She also has published several articles on and continues to conduct research in the area of pain perception, chronic pain, psychological treatments for pain, and the interrelationships among health, biology, the brain, and behavior. In 2023, the University of Montevallo named Dr. Richardson as “University Scholar.”
